The Engage tab is where sellers execute on a strategy. It combines a stakeholder-aware prospecting cadence — with AI-drafted emails, calls, and social touches — and the conversation roadmap that guides deeper stakeholder meetings, all in one place.

Opening Engage

Open any Sales Strategy from the Strategies list and switch to the Engage tab. The tab has two sections:
  • Prospecting — the outreach cadence for each stakeholder in the strategy (open by default).
  • Conversation roadmap — the guided meeting plan (collapsed by default; expand it when needed).

Prospecting

Prospecting turns a Sales Strategy into a numbered outreach cadence. ShiftUp generates the drafts — you review, personalize, and send.

Why now

The first step of every prospecting flow is a Why now callout — a short, evidence-backed explanation of why this is a timely moment to reach out. It includes:
  • The pain hypothesis — the specific pain ShiftUp expects to resonate right now
  • Shared evidence hover cards — hover any highlighted evidence to see the source signal
  • View full strategy — jumps back to the strategy Overview if you need broader context

Who can act

The Who can act step is the stakeholder roster for this strategy — the people ShiftUp thinks can move the deal, ordered by influence and confidence. Each stakeholder card shows: From the roster you can:
  • Add stakeholders to outreach — Pick from stakeholders ShiftUp already knows about, or Add stakeholder to create a new one inline. When a new stakeholder is added, ShiftUp generates their outreach drafts automatically.
  • Convert to Record — Turn a stakeholder into a Salesforce Contact or Lead in place.
  • View stakeholder — Open the stakeholder detail sheet without leaving Engage.

Outreach cadence

Once a stakeholder is in your outreach, ShiftUp lays out a flat, numbered cadence timeline of touches — email, phone, and social — in the order it recommends running them. Each contact-point card contains:
  • Subject, message body, and call script (channels the touch supports)
  • To, Phone, and LinkedIn profile fields pulled from the linked Salesforce record
  • Action buttons: Send Email, Convert to Contact, Mark complete, Personalize, Edit, Copy, and View more / View less
Progress rolls up at the top of the section (X of Y done), and completed touches move into a collapsible Completed outreach history so the active cadence stays focused on what’s next.

Personalize a draft in one shot

Any email or LinkedIn draft can be personalized without leaving the card.
1

Click Personalize

ShiftUp masks the AI content and rewrites it in your saved email style, revealing the new draft with a typewriter animation.
2

Review the result

The personalized draft replaces the original inline. Talking points and call scripts are personalized alongside the email body.
3

Undo if needed

A single Undo action restores the original AI draft. If you don’t have a saved style yet, ShiftUp launches the email style setup wizard first, then personalizes.
The email-style setup wizard runs the first time you click Personalize if you haven’t saved a style yet.

Sending an email

Click Send Email on any email contact-point card:
  1. ShiftUp opens a Review email before sending dialog with the final subject, body, and recipient.
  2. Confirm the message. ShiftUp sends it through Salesforce and marks the touch complete.
  3. If the stakeholder isn’t linked to a Salesforce Contact or Lead, sending is blocked with a toast — use Convert to Contact first, then send.
Send results appear in a summary dialog so you can see which recipients succeeded and retry any that failed.

Generate more outreach

When the current cadence is done for a stakeholder, click Generate next 3 on the Outreach cadence header. ShiftUp generates the next batch of touches (typically the next three) so the cadence keeps moving without a full regenerate. If Generate next 3 is disabled, the tooltip shows what’s still active (e.g. “3 active touches complete”) so you know when it will unlock.

Empty and error states

  • No drafts yet — Click Generate drafts to kick off the initial prospecting run. ShiftUp shows a “Generating outreach drafts. This can take a few minutes.” banner while work is in flight. This can take 20 minutes to generate.
  • Generation failed — A Try again button retries the failing step; other stakeholders keep their drafts.
  • Load error — A Retry button reloads the panel without losing your place in the strategy.

Conversation roadmap

Below Prospecting, the Conversation roadmap section holds the classic roadmap view — the guided sequence of conversations, meetings, and info gaps for the strategy. It’s collapsed by default; click the header to expand it. For more information, see the Conversation Roadmap section in the Sales Strategy documentation.

Interaction with other tabs

  • Overview — Roadmap-style links on the strategy Overview jump into Engage with the roadmap expanded, so you land where you were headed.
  • Stakeholders (standalone tab) — The standalone Stakeholders tab still exists for research and stand-alone outreach. Prospecting inside Engage reuses the same stakeholder data.

Requirements and permissions

  • Salesforce send — To use Send Email, sellers need the standard ShiftUp email-send permission, and the stakeholder must be linked to a Salesforce Contact or Lead.
  • Email style customization — Optional. If it’s set up, Personalize applies your saved style; if not, ShiftUp launches the setup wizard when you first click Personalize.
