Opening Customize

From the left sidebar, click the Customize entry. Customize has two sections:
  • Communication style — Captures the way you write so ShiftUp drafts emails in your voice. Powers the Personalize action on stakeholder emails in the Engage tab and every AI-drafted outreach in ShiftUp.
  • Appearance — Chooses how ShiftUp looks for you.

Communication style

First-time setup

If you haven’t set your style yet, the section shows an empty state with a Start setup button. Click it to launch the guided wizard. The wizard walks you through short, sample-based prompts and captures:
  • Tone — Which sample email sounded most like you.
  • Length — How much detail feels like enough.
  • Impact — Whether business impact should lean on numbers or narrative.
  • Greeting — Sets the first line and sign-off. See How Greeting and sign-off work below.
  • Next step — How drafts should close the ask (soft vs. direct).
  • Habits to avoid — Anything you’d rather not see (e.g. exclamation points, “I hope this finds you well…”).
A live preview generates alongside your choices, so you see the exact tone shift as you pick options. When you’re happy, save and close the wizard — ShiftUp is now ready to draft in your voice.

Editing your style later

Once set up, the Communication style section shows two things:
  • Style profile — Edit the choices captured during setup (Tone, Length, Impact, Greeting, Next step). Update the preview to see the new sample, then Save changes.
  • Habits to avoid — Toggle habits on or off. There’s also an Anything else? free-text field for a personal note (e.g. Always sign off Cheers, Jamie).
Actions available on this section:
  • Tune again — Reopens the wizard seeded with your saved answers, so you can walk through the sample-based prompts again.
  • Update preview — Regenerates the sample email using your current selections. Required after changing choices before you can save.
  • Reset — Restores your saved selections and refreshes the sample.
  • Save changes — Persists the edits.
Update preview is required whenever your style choices change.

How Greeting and sign-off work

The Greeting choice controls both the opening line and the closing sign-off block on every email ShiftUp drafts for you. Three options are available:
  • Formal — Polished and professional. Opens with Hello <first name>, and closes with a short Thanks,\n<your first name>.
  • Informal — Casual and conversational. Opens with Hey <first name>, and closes with a short Best,\n<your first name>.
  • Use my own — Pulled from your saved email signature in Salesforce. Opens with <first name>, and appends your signature verbatim as the sign-off block, blank lines included.
Use my own only appears (and can only be selected) when your Salesforce user record has an Email Signature set. If the field is empty, the option is hidden in the wizard and disabled in the settings dropdown. ShiftUp always reads the live signature from your Salesforce user record at the moment a draft is generated. If you update your Salesforce signature, the next draft picks up the change without any action in Customize. The stored value on your saved style is only used as a fallback if the live signature is later cleared. The exact line structure of your signature is preserved. If your signature contains blank lines, links, or a multi-line block, drafts append it exactly as saved rather than flattening it.

Appearance

The Appearance section lets you choose how ShiftUp looks. Pick one of three themes:
  • Light — Bright surfaces with dark text, the classic ShiftUp look.
  • Dark — Dimmed surfaces that are easier on the eyes in low light.
  • Auto — Matches your Salesforce theme, switching between light and dark with it. When Auto is selected, ShiftUp shows the currently resolved theme (light or dark) beneath the option.
Changes apply right away and follow you across devices.
